We’ve got some great nominations in already -- thanks everyone! Here’s our first set of questions and notes.

Fandoms & Ships
If you nominated just Marvel, do you mean Marvel (Comics), MCU, or something else? If we don't hear back from you by Feb. 7 we'll assume you mean Marvel (Comics) and change it to that.

If you nominated the fandom Original Work, please change it to one of the available original works categories (Original F/F, Original F/M, Original M/M, Original Other or Solo). If these aren't changed by Feb. 7, we'll reject these nominations.

Dangan Ronpa -- All Media Types needs to be nominated as either Hope's Peak Arc or V3.

Also, we aren’t accepting tags with “&” relationships. These will get rejected.

Thank you to everyone who’s been disambiguating ship tags from related franchises! We’re happy to disambiguate on the back end, but the help is appreciated :)

Kinks
The following nominations didn’t seem inherently sexual to us. Could the nominators either explain what you meant, or change it to something more clearly sexual?

- Alternate Universe - Everyone Lives/Nobody Dies
- Alternate Universe - Serial Killers
- Drinking wine in bed
- Hurt/Comfort
- Stranded - On Another Planet/World With No Way Home

Lastly, phrasing kink tags clearly and concisely will help us a lot! For a (completely made up) example, “Breast Play” is a better tag for this exchange than “Hell yeah love those boobs.”

(clarity is more important that concision, of course -- if only one is possible, go for clarity!)

Alternate Universe - Serial Killers

I picked Alternate Universe - Serial Killers as a broad umbrella that could contain a number of scenarios. Murder being linked with sex is common. I can change it to Alternate Universe - Serial Killers & Sex Happens or something like that, but being in an exchange for smut it feels that the smut is implied with all of the tags. For me personally, the specific sexual acts aren't hot without a surrounding context, so I'm more interested in nominating the context and leaving the specific actions up to the writer/artist.

I picked Alternate Universe - Everyone Lives/Nobody Dies. That's because in case of most characters I am interested in, said characters are sooner or later killed off by the narrative, and even if some characters I like survive the story, I find it impossible to care for them when all the other charatcers are dead. Therefore, I need this tag or I'll spend way too much space in additional notes explaining why the story absolutely must take place in an AU where nobody died and everybody redeemed themselves. Furthermore, stranded somewhere with no way home is a common setting of erotic fantasies. Like Sirvalkyrie explained, certain sex acts are only hot in context.

Done, not sure if it helps but I've changed Hurt/Comfort to something like The Only Comfort I Can Offer Is Love/Sex. (Also, I propose an Only Hot In Context tag to add to these situation-specific items.)

I have honestly been conditioned to Only Use Canonical Tags (or at least tags that have been used and are waiting for canonical status) for these. So I have to keep in mind that non-canonical tags are okay. :)

You are participating in an exchange, not commissioning a fic and paying the author to write it. You can't demand that your writer write you the specific fic you want. You are only guaranteed to get a fic in one of your requested fandoms, with one of your requested ships, and with none of your DNWs. You can leave prompts, but it would be okay per the rules if your author decided that "optional details are optional."

Because this exchange uses OR matching, there’s a good chance you won’t get what you want from a single broad gen tag like this. If you only want fic where everyone lives, you might want to nominate some specific scenarios like “Everyone Lives AU - sex to celebrate surviving” or “Everyone Lives AU - making a baby in the happy aftermath.” You can then only request those tags in your signup to ensure you get that AU.

You can also simply DNW your requested characters dying or being dead, even if they die in canon. I don’t know your canon, so that may be boxing your writer in too much if it would require a massive AU to make it work. However, in most cases that’s not an uncommon or unreasonable DNW.

Hi, it seems like my nom of "underage - shota" has been changed to "extremely underage". Is it possible to change it to shota or shotacon? To me shota is something like kuroshitsuji's Ciel or toilet-bound Hanako kun, while "extremely underage" can be anything like toddlers and babies, which I don't want to match on offer.

Nah, putting an age bracket in it doesn't make it feel like the "shota" tag I'm looking for... maybe because like you said it encompasses broad age range, but it also feels like it has specific tropes/cliche associated to it that is different than just the age range itself.
Anyway never mind, I'll just use the extreme underage tag.

Hello! I nominated " Scarification - to possess someone" but I've realized it's not actually very clear -- would it be possible to change it to "Scarification - as a mark of ownership"? Thank you!

I have preemptive clarification on one of my nominations!

For an additional tag, I selected:

alien anatomy - sea cucumber mouth dick/s

By which I mean, the character's dick resembles (SFW!) the mouth of a sea cucumber (Forced to beg), comprised of several tentacles/feelers, with our without additional branching feelers at the ends. Um. Yeah.

FYI, I'm the nominator of the two tags that involve Laws and Customs of the Eldar and I just want to discuss them, as I notice they haven't been approved yet.

They are Tolkien-specific (but I noticed there was a Star Trek-specific one approved so figured it would be okay). I tried to come up with some more generic way to word them but there really wasn't any way I could find that would give me the exact tropes I'm looking for.

"Elves Die If Raped" could be either a conscious choice or a biological imperative (Tolkien isn't clear), and it's that ambiguity specifically that interests me. "The Wedding Night" refers to Tolkien's statement that it was at all times lawful for two Elves to get married by exchanging vows and having sex, essentially, no other ceremonies needed.
